SOUTHAVEN, Miss. — The U.S. Chamber of Commerce has officially designated the Southaven Chamber of Commerce as a Five-Star Accredited institution, an elite honor that distinguishes the organization for its operational excellence and community impact.
The announcement cements the Chamber’s status as a regional leader. To achieve this level of accreditation, the organization met rigorous national standards across several categories, including governance, finance, and government affairs.
“Achieving Five-Star Accreditation from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce is a tremendous honor and a strong validation of the daily work of our team, board, and ambassadors,” said Debbie King, President and CEO of the Southaven Chamber of Commerce.
A Milestone for Mississippi
The designation carries significant weight for the local business climate. Eric Williams, who served as the 2024-2025 Board of Directors President, noted that the achievement was years in the making.
“I had a front-row seat to the relentless dedication, late nights, and strategic vision required to reach this milestone,” Williams said. “To put this achievement in perspective: Southaven is now the only city in the entire state of Mississippi to hold this prestigious 5-star distinction.”
Williams added that the accreditation is more than just a trophy. “It is a rigorous validation of our Chamber’s policies, financial stewardship, and its impact on the ‘Streets to the Seats’ of our local economy. It proves that when we say we are committed to our business members, we back it up with national-standard excellence.”

Elite National Standing
The Southaven Chamber is one of only two in the Mid-South to hold the Five-Star designation. The accreditation process, which typically spans six to nine months, involves a comprehensive self-assessment reviewed by a national board of chamber CEOs and U.S. Chamber board members.
“Earning the Accreditation designation is a testament to a chamber’s unwavering dedication to excellence and its pivotal role in fostering a thriving business environment,” said Raymond P. Towle, Vice President at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
Current Board Chair Jeff Jones echoed the sentiment, noting that the Chamber’s culture of excellence creates an environment where “strong relationships naturally lead to meaningful business opportunities”.
As Southaven continues to see rapid growth, this national validation ensures local businesses have access to a resource that meets the highest professional benchmarks in the country.
