The president and CEO of the Southaven Chamber of Commerce praised the leadership team at Baptist Memorial Hospital–DeSoto for establishing its Community Advisory Board and actively engaging regional business and civic leaders.

During the meeting, David Mitchell, the hospital’s head of security, provided a detailed overview of the facility’s safety protocols and technology investments. His presentation included information about body cameras for security staff, license plate readers, and AI-powered identification systems aimed at improving situational awareness and response.

Mitchell also highlighted the hospital’s commitment to infant safety and its advanced fire alarm and emergency response systems that protect patients, visitors, and staff daily. Additionally, he shared updates on partnerships with the Southaven Police Department and the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office, which are crucial for maintaining a secure healthcare environment.

The advisory board features a diverse group of community leaders, including the mayor, sheriff, local school officials, church representatives, restaurant owners, higher education partners such as Northwest Mississippi Community College and the University of Mississippi, nonprofit leaders, and hospital department heads. This broad representation allows for transparent updates on hospital operations and priorities, fostering collaboration that benefits the entire community.

The chamber leader concluded by thanking Brian Hogan for his leadership and dedication to maintaining Baptist DeSoto as a top-tier healthcare provider. The hospital serves as a vital resource for Southaven and its surrounding areas, contributing to the community’s health and resilience.
