Severe thunderstorm watch in effect until 7 p.m.; residents urged to sign up for alerts
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect until 7 p.m., with large hail, damaging winds and a few tornadoes possible, the DeSoto County Government and the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office said in a bulletin issued at 1:04 p.m. March 9, 2026.
Olive Branch Mayor Ken Adams and the Olive Branch Police and Fire departments urged residents to remember that a watch means conditions are possible and a warning means people should take action immediately, the officials said.
Officials encouraged residents to sign up for emergency notifications and severe weather alerts by texting “olivebranch” to 888777, the mayor’s office and public safety agencies said.
For immediate emergency services, officials reminded residents to dial 911. For nonemergency incidents, the Olive Branch Police Department advised calling (662) 895-4111.
