Olive Branch Teen One of Two Killed in Holly Springs Plane Crash
Two people were killed Sunday evening when a small plane crashed near the Holly Springs-Marshall County Airport in north Mississippi, authorities said.
The crash occurred about 5 p.m. in a wooded area south of the runway near the intersection of Bishop Road and Bicycle Road, according to the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office. Officials identified the victims as 29-year-old Wesley Bolden of Marshall County and 17-year-old Jordan Hall of Olive Branch.
Emergency responders secured the scene after receiving reports of a downed aircraft. No additional details about the plane’s flight path or mechanical condition were immediately available.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation. The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are expected to lead the investigation.
The area has seen previous aviation incidents. In July 2000, a Cessna 150 crashed south of the same airport, killing two people. In June 2011, a Cessna 182 experienced engine failure shortly after takeoff from the airport, but the pilot deployed a ballistic parachute and only minor injuries were reported.
