OLIVE BRANCH, Miss. — Mayor Ken Adams and the Board of Aldermen, alongside Police Chief Carlos Garcia, formally recognized Joshua Mucciarone on Thursday as the new deputy chief of the Olive Branch Police Department.
The ceremony, held Jan. 29, honored Mucciarone for a career spanning 22 years with the department, including 16 years in various leadership capacities.
“We have every confidence that he will continue to serve this department with integrity and will do an outstanding job in this new role,” city officials said in a statement.

A native of Franklin, Massachusetts, Mucciarone moved to the Mid-South in 1996. He earned a Bachelor of Science in criminal justice from the University of Memphis. Before joining the force, he served as an asset protection manager for Walmart, a role credited with sparking his interest in law enforcement.
Since joining the Olive Branch Police Department in 2003, Mucciarone has ascended through the ranks. His experience includes service as a patrolman, K-9 handler, and member of the S.W.A.T. team. He previously held the ranks of patrol sergeant, patrol lieutenant, and patrol captain. Most recently, he served as the S.W.A.T. commander.
City officials noted that his commitment to the department has earned him the respect of peers and subordinates alike throughout his decades of service.
