Olive Branch mayor urges residents to keep storm drains clear
Mayor Ken Adams of Olive Branch warned that material dumped into storm drains flows directly into local waterways, carrying litter and other pollutants.
He said items such as plastic eggs, grass clippings, baskets and other litter should be kept out of storm drains.
Adams urged residents to take small steps each day to reduce stormwater pollution, including picking up litter; using less fertilizer and pesticides on lawns; properly disposing of pet waste; recycling used motor oil and antifreeze; and taking hazardous household materials to authorized collection sites.
He said individual actions can help protect local waterways and minimize stormwater pollution.
