“November’s Feast of Justice” operation nets 60 felony convictions
Dec 3, 2024-The DeSoto County District Attorney’s Office has announced 60 criminals were convicted during the month of November through operation November’s Feast of Justice.
“We made it clear: we will not allow criminals to disrupt the peace and safety of our neighborhoods,” said District Attorney Matthew Barton. “These convictions are a testament to our office’s dedication to defending DeSoto County against bad actors. Every conviction and every case closed means a safer community.”
The convictions cover a broad range of offenses, including violent crimes, drug offenses, shoplifting, forgery, and other serious charges, all of which threaten the safety of residents and the economic attractiveness in DeSoto County.
Barton emphasized, “Our work is about more than just securing convictions—it’s about protecting the lives and peace of mind of the people who call DeSoto County home.”
Barton added that he remains committed to transparency and openness with the public.
“When I was elected, I promised to be transparent with the people of DeSoto County about the work we do and the job I was hired to do,” Barton said. “This office belongs to the people, and I am dedicated to keeping you informed and engaged in the process. You have a right to know what is happening in the criminal justice system, and I will continue to keep you updated on our progress and successes.”
By securing these convictions, Barton said his office is sending a powerful message to criminals that DeSoto County is not a place where crime will be tolerated, and it will continue to take every step necessary to protect our residents and their families.
