Northwest Choirs to welcome autumn with “Unclouded Day” concert
SENATOBIA, Miss. – The Northwest Mississippi Community College choirs will present their fall concert, “Unclouded Day,” on Tuesday, Oct. 21, at 7 p.m. in the Heindl Center for the Performing Arts.
The performance, which is free and open to the public, is themed around the idea of welcoming the best days of autumn, according to Dr. Alex Belohlavek, the college’s director of Choral Activities.
Attendees can expect a diverse musical program featuring three of the college’s ensembles. The Ranger Consort will perform a set of Renaissance music composed entirely by women, which Belohlavek noted is “incredibly rare for the time period.”
The Northwest Singers will present three pieces featuring instrumentalists, while the Ranger Chorale’s performance will include excerpts from Veljo Tormis’s “Sugismaastikudv,” a work whose title translates to “Autumn Landscapes.”
Dr. Belohlavek and the college invite the community to enjoy the free performance.
