New storage facility opens in Horn Lake

Aug 1, 2024- Horn Lake has welcomed a new business that opened last spring along Goodman Road West and Nail Road. .
SpaceBox Storage is a regional franchise of storage facilities for home and business, a franchise centered in the Southeast states of Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, and in Franklin, Tennessee. There are four locations currently in Mississippi with two of them in Horn Lake. The others are in Laurel and in Hattiesburg. The Horn Lake Chamber of Commerce this week held a welcoming ribbon-cutting event at the Goodman Road West facility.
Jon Usry is the local store manager for the Horn Lake SpaceBox Storage facilities.
“We took our first customer on April 30,” Usry said. “We have 550 climate-controlled storage units in this building. It’s 80,000 square feet, probably the largest building in DeSoto County.”
Usry added that there are about 20 covered parking spots for RVs and boats, about 45 uncovered spots and 17 “drive-ups.”
“We are currently on our way to about 100 customers in just 90 days,” Usry said.
The Nail Road location is supposed to be a completely online service, where if you need anything, you call a number for assistance and to help rent spaces, which Usry said are much larger than the spaces on Goodman Road West.
Usry said a mix of businesses and residents rent the spaces and they do it for a number of reasons.
“We have a gentleman that has a unit out here and one of the drive-ups,” Usry explained. “He keeps his tools and uses that unit as a studio to make YouTube videos for, like, how to repair your car.”
