Mississippi woman wanted in parental kidnapping arrested in Pueblo, child recovered, authorities say

Pueblo County Sheriff’s detectives and the U.S. Marshals Service Violent Offender Task Force arrested 28-year-old Sharayon Brown and recovered an 11-year-old child this afternoon in the 3400 block of N. Elizabeth Street in Pueblo, the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office said.

Brown was wanted on a parental kidnapping warrant from Olive Branch, Mississippi, the Olive Branch Police Department said. She was booked into the Pueblo County Jail, the sheriff’s office said.

The Olive Branch Police Department said it contacted the U.S. Marshals for the District of Colorado after receiving information that Brown and the child might be in the Colorado Springs area. The U.S. Marshals task force, which includes detectives from the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office and Fountain Police, searched several locations and located vehicles associated with Brown and the child, the task force said.

The Colorado Springs Police Department, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office and the Colorado State Patrol assisted in the search, the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office said. Pueblo detectives transported the child to the El Paso County Department of Human Services, where arrangements are being made for reunification with the custodial family, the sheriff’s office said.

The Olive Branch Police Department said Olive Branch officials, including Mayor Ken Adams, thanked the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Marshals task force for their work in locating and apprehending Brown.
