MBI Investigates Officer-Involved Shooting After DeSoto County Domestic Disturbance
OLIVE BRANCH, Miss. — The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI) has launched a probe into an officer-involved shooting that occurred Monday evening in DeSoto County, involving deputies from the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO).
The incident unfolded at approximately 8:15 p.m. on Miller Farms Road in Olive Branch. According to MBI, deputies were responding to a domestic disturbance call at a residence when the situation escalated.
Standoff Follows Shots Fired
During the response, a subject at the location allegedly presented a weapon in the direction of the deputies. In response, the deputies discharged their weapons, striking the subject.
A brief standoff followed the shooting, after which the subject surrendered without further incident. The subject sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported for medical treatment. No deputies were physically injured during the encounter.
Investigation Underway
The MBI is currently on the scene, assessing the critical incident and gathering evidence. As is standard procedure in officer-involved shootings, MBI agents will compile their findings and submit them to the Attorney General’s Office for review once the investigation is complete.
