Mayor and board approve firearm surplus, outline road projects

At its most recent meeting, the Mayor and Board of Aldermen approved a resolution to surplus a firearm to recently retired Officer Ben Bynum, city officials said.

In the mayor’s report, officials said the Starlanding and Swinnea roundabout will go out to bid soon. They also said Starlanding Road will be resurfaced in the near future.

Officials said Stateline Road is scheduled for resurfacing starting mid-April. The Nail Road Extension and Snowden Lane widening projects are complete, and court renovation is almost finished, according to the mayor’s report.

The board meets the first and third Tuesdays of each month, and citizens are invited to attend in person or watch via livestream, the city said. The city encouraged residents to subscribe to its YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC45tmm7r_zN3QbaO6DcFfRQ) and to follow the mayor’s blog (https://southaven.org/Blog.aspx?CID=1) for updates.
