Magnolias on the Mantle

Decorating for Christmas while fun, can sometimes be challenging as well. How to make that fireplace mantle look pretty like others that are seen? Where is everyone getting the beautiful bows? That’s where a professional comes in and answers those questions.

The DeSoto Civic Garden Club met at the home of member Gwen Savage on Dec. 3. Magnolias on the Mantle was presented by Barbara Walsh. Barbara demonstrated the mechanics of creating a holiday design using magnolia branches and additional greenery along with beautiful bows and other seasonal elements on the fireplace mantle. Barbara also gave a refresher course on how to create the single bows and double bows.

After the conclusion of the business meeting, a delicious meal provided by all members was enjoyed. DeSoto Civic Garden Club wishes a very Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all.

The DeSoto Civic Garden Club is a member of the National Garden Clubs, Inc. and The Garden Clubs of Mississippi Inc., Hills and Delta District.
