Local legislators ranking in BIPEC report card
July 18 – The Business and Industry Political Education Committee (BIPEC) Wednesday came out with its annual “Business and Jobs” Legislator Report Card.
BIPEC was founded in 1980 by Mississippi business and professional leaders to identify legislators who understood the needs and concerns of employers.
The statewide membership of BIPEC includes individuals, hundreds of Mississippi companies and professional firms and over 35 trade associations. BIPEC also points out it is not connected with any political party.
The annual report card reflected BIPEC’s approval or disapproval of lawmakers’ votes on business-related measures in the Mississippi state legislature and grades legislators on their votes.
The DeSoto County state Senator receiving an “A” grade from BIPEC was state Sen. Kevin Blackwell (R-Southaven). State Sens. Dr. David Parker (R-Olive Branch) and Michael McLendon (R-Hernando) received “B” grades.
On the House side, an “A” grade was given to DeSoto County Reps. W.I. “Doc” Harris (R-Hernando), Justin Keen (R-Byhalia), Kimberly Remak (R-Olive Branch), and Bill Kinkade (R-Byhalia). Legislators receiving “B” grades included Reps. Jeff Hale (R-Southaven) and Rodney Hall (R-Southaven). State Reps. Dan Eubanks (R-Walls) and Hester Jackson McCray (D-Horn Lake) were given a “C” grade from BIPEC.
You can view the complete report card on the BIPEC website.
