Hernando hosts annual Water Tower Festival in busy weekend for county events

HERNANDO, Miss. — Saturday was filled with a plethora of events to choose from in DeSoto County, the highlight of which was the annual Water Tower Festival in downtown Hernando.

Organized by the Hernando Main Street Chamber of Commerce, the festival featured more than 100 vendors offering arts, crafts, and local goods, while “Panola Street Eats” featured food trucks serving everything from tacos and pizza to desserts.

Families enjoyed the expanded Water Tower Tikes Kidz Zone, which included carnival games, inflatables, face painting, and a new Touch-A-Truck attraction.

The festival is considered one of Hernando’s largest community gatherings, showcasing local businesses and highlighting the city’s downtown charm.

Many other events took place in DeSoto County on Saturday, ranging from the Mid-South Fair at the Landers Center to a Craft Beer and Flower Festival at Cedar Hill Farm.  Bonsai’s Brussel Nursery held its fall open house, the Lacing Up for Hope 5K event at Southaven’s Snowden Grove Park, and Catfish and Khakis event nearby at the Snowden House.

There was a weekly farmer’s market continuing in Olive Branch, as well as a fall festival at the Olive Branch Senior Center.
