Hernando couple arrested for stealing from fatal accident victims
Tunica County authorities say they have arrested a Hernando couple who are accused of stealing from another couple who had died in an accident.
Tunica County deputies were called to a two-vehicle motor vehicle accident on Monday, Sept. 23 at the intersection of Casino Strip Extended and Kirby Road in Robinsonville.
On arrival, deputies and first responders made contact with two vehicles, both having sustained extensive damage. Due to the severity of this accident, the drivers of both vehicles involved did not survive.
The victims were identified as Nicholas Paul Stafford, age 29 and Ruby Gene Watney, age 36, both of Tate County.
During the investigation, it was determined that a firearm was stolen from the scene of the accident. Within the first 48 hours from the initial call regarding this accident, two people, identified as Jonathan Parr, age 59, and Christina Brumback, age 42, both of Hernando were arrested and booked into custody of the Tunica County Jail. The firearm was recovered.
Parr is being charged with possession of a stolen firearm and being a felon in possession of a stolen firearm. Brumback is charged with accessory after the fact.
