DeSoto County to host second Master Urban Homesteader Course this spring

The DeSoto County Agri-Education Center will host the second Master Urban Homesteader Course in May. The six-day program runs from 8 a.m. to noon on May 5, 7, 12, 14, 19, and 21.

Participants will learn about gardening, seed starting, floral design, home canning, sourdough baking, cast iron cooking, and small farm livestock and poultry management. The course includes hands-on activities and a field trip to Adobe Ranch in Olive Branch, Mississippi, on the final day to see skills in action, organizers said.

Registration is open, with a fee of $100 per adult and $20 for children 12 and older accompanied by a registered adult. Space is limited. For more information, interested individuals can call 662-469-8480 or register online at https://bit.ly/3OKkbUJ, organizers said.
