DeSoto County arrests made in Tunica shooting evidence investigation

A Tunica man was taken into custody in DeSoto County Tuesday evening and charged in connection with an investigation into physical evidence tied to a recent Tunica County shooting, according to the Tunica County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities said Antonio Allen, 23, of Tunica, had been released from the Tunica County Sheriff’s Office around 6:45 p.m. Tuesday after posting an $81,000 bond set by Tunica County Justice Court.

About 45 minutes later, deputies with the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office made contact with a vehicle near Arkabutla Lake Dam in DeSoto County. Investigators said Allen and others were taken into custody there.

Allen was charged with tampering with physical evidence and conspiracy.

According to investigators, the suspects are accused of conspiring to move, hide and transport physical evidence connected to a Tunica County shooting investigation from two days earlier.

Officials said the case is now being investigated by the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

The investigation remains active, and authorities said additional arrests and charges are expected. Assisting agencies include the Tunica Police Department, Tunica County Sheriff’s Office, Mississippi Bureau of Investigation and federal authorities.
