DeSoto Civic Garden Club member teaches about herbs

On Aug. 20, DeSoto Civic Garden Club member Dawn Weiss gave a power point presentation to the public at the M R Davis Library in Southaven.

The topic concerned three herbs: basil, oregano and thyme. Visuals that she used to teach the program included an educational board that emphasized the flavor, health benefits, and growing tips for using herbs in hanging baskets. Another area discussed was having all of the participants sample three delicious herbal dishes that Dawn had prepared so that they could include them in their own culinary dishes.

In conclusion, each person present was given a container and soil plus the three herbs mentioned in constructing their own arrangement of basil, oregano and thyme.

The DeSoto Civic Garden Club is a member of the National Garden Clubs, Inc., Deep South Garden Clubs, Inc. and The Garden Clubs of Mississippi, Inc.
