Deputies conduct sex offender law compliance operation
The DeSoto County Sheriff’s Department has recently conducted a highly successful operation to verify compliance with state laws regarding sex offenders.
Over a period of four days, the department investigated approximately 220 registered sex offenders to ensure that they were abiding by state laws. Additionally, nearly two dozen arrest warrants will be issued for violations that were uncovered during the operation and numerous other investigations are ongoing.
This operation was a crucial part of the department’s mission to protect the citizens of DeSoto County. The department’s efforts were assisted by the U.S. Marshals Service, and this ongoing investigation marks a significant step forward in ensuring the safety and security of our community.
It’s important for citizens to know that they can view the sex offender registry at https://state.sor.dps.ms.gov/ to stay informed about sex offenders in their area. If citizens have information on a sex offender who has provided incorrect information, they should report them to the Sheriff’s Department immediately.
