DA identifies illegal immigrants in jail, reported for deportation
DeSoto County District Attorney’s Office Identifies Illegal Immigrants in County Jail, Coordinates with ICE for Deportation Process
Feb. 11, 2025- The DeSoto County District Attorney’s Office has announced that, along with collaboration from municipal prosecutors, they have identified and reported criminal illegal aliens in the county jail to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for the initiation of deportation proceedings.
In an ongoing effort by the District Attorney’s Office, two additional illegal immigrants currently in custody: Raul Ramirez, a national from Mexico, and Dani Amaya Madrid, a national from Honduras, have been reported to ICE for processing.
District Attorney Matthew Barton emphasized the importance of this collaboration in ensuring the safety and security of the community.
“We are working to support the Trump Administration’s policies on immigration enforcement and national security,” said Barton. “When we identify individuals who are not in the country legally, we notify the appropriate federal authorities so they can take action. We are committed to maintaining the integrity of our legal system and ensuring that DeSoto County remains a safe place for its residents.”
Both Ramirez and Amaya Madrid are being held in the DeSoto County Jail on criminal charges. The District Attorney’s Office, in conjunction with municipal prosecutors, conducted a thorough review of their cases and backgrounds.
“We will continue to work closely with ICE and other law enforcement agencies to address illegal immigration and ensure that all individuals within our custody are lawfully present in the country,” Barton added.
This action represents the DeSoto County District Attorney’s Office’s continued commitment to national security, ensuring justice, and cooperating with federal authorities to combat illegal criminal immigration. The collaboration is aimed at identifying illegal immigrants who may be involved in criminal activities, ensuring they are appropriately reported to ICE, and assisting in the deportation process.
These two individuals were arrested over the weekend on other charges.
