Baptist-DeSoto Baby Fair
Moms-to-be and their families got valuable information about their new addition, plus free gifts and giveaways during the annual Baby Fair at Baptist Memorial Hospital-DeSoto in Southaven. The Saturday attracted a good turnout to the outpatient lobby of the hospital’s Women’s Pavilion.
Several local vendors were there with handouts and treats, ranging from Baptist obstetricians, pediatricians and other child health care experts. They were on hand to answer questions and provide important, useful tips for giving your child a beautiful beginning and a healthy childhood.
Information available included the following topics:
Breastfeeding education
- Car seat and seat belt safety
- Childbirth experts
- Healthy pregnancy tips
- Infant CPR information
According to the hospital, the national Blue Cross Blue Shield Association has designated Baptist-DeSoto as a Blue Distinction Center of Excellence for Maternity Care. Baptist-DeSoto meets or exceeds the criteria that emphasizes patient safety and positive clinical outcomes for maternity patients. Baptist-DeSoto also meets additional criteria defined by Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi’s Maternity Quality Model, a statewide initiative aimed at improving maternal health and making childbirth safer.
Baptist-DeSoto also has an obstetrical emergency department in the Women’s Pavilion. Our obstetrics emergency room in our Women’s Pavilion is staffed around the clock with board-certified OB/GYN doctors to care for women and give them added reassurance when something doesn’t feel right.
