Baptist-DeSoto among report’s high-performing hospitals

Aug. 20, 2025 – Baptist Memorial Hospital-DeSoto has been recognized as a high-performing hospital in multiple specialties by U.S. News & World Report’s 2025-2026 Best Hospitals rankings. This achievement highlights the hospital’s dedication to providing top-tier medical care to the DeSoto County community and surrounding areas.

According to the annual report, Baptist Memorial Hospital-DeSoto received a “High Performing” rating in six key areas: Heart Failure, COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), Diabetes, Heart Attack, Kidney Failure, and Pneumonia. This designation signifies that the hospital performs significantly better than the national average in these specific procedures and conditions, based on patient outcomes, safety, and other objective data.

This recognition places Baptist-DeSoto among a select group of hospitals nationally, reinforcing its reputation as a leading healthcare provider in northern Mississippi. The U.S. News & World Report rankings are widely regarded as a valuable resource for patients and their doctors when choosing a hospital. The methodology evaluates data from nearly 5,000 hospitals and assesses factors like risk-adjusted mortality rates, preventable complications, and the level of nursing care.

Broader Recognition for Baptist Health System

The accolades for Baptist Memorial Hospital-DeSoto are part of a broader trend of excellence across the Baptist Memorial Health Care network.

Other hospitals in the system were also celebrated in the U.S. News & World Report rankings:

  • Mississippi Baptist Medical Center was named the Best Regional Hospital for the state of Mississippi and the Jackson metro area, with a “High Performing” rating in 15 categories.
  • Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis was named the Best Regional Hospital in the Memphis metropolitan area and the No. 2 hospital in Tennessee, in a tie. It was rated “High Performing” in 19 categories.
  • Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi was rated “High Performing” for six procedures and conditions.
  • NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital received “High Performing” ratings in four areas.
  • Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union County was rated “High Performing” for Pneumonia.
