Arrest made after Horn Lake barbershop stabbing

Aug. 20, 2025 – A Memphis man was arrested after a stabbing at a Horn Lake barbershop that left one person hospitalized, according to police.

Horn Lake Police said Willie Cruz, age 34 of Memphis, has been charged with aggravated assault. Cruz was jailed at the DeSoto County Adult Detention Center and has since been released on $250,00 bond. Cruz has a Sept. 18 court date scheduled in the case.

On Friday, Aug. 12, around 6:10 p.m. officers responded to Baptist Memorial Hospital-DeSoto, where they spoke with a victim who had been stabbed in the chest.

The victim told police he was attacked with a pair of scissors during an argument at a barbershop in the 3000 block of Goodman Road. Police said the victim was taken to the hospital with injuries but is listed in stable condition.

Investigators went to the barbershop to collect evidence and were told several witnesses left the scene after the altercation. Authorities said they are still looking to speak with those witnesses.
