The City of Olive Branch said Mayor Ken Adams and the Board of Aldermen welcomed Gillian Halkett, who will join the city’s Utility Department.

Organizers canceled tonight’s Sunset on the Square because a forecasted tropical system could bring unpredictable rain and thunderstorms, they said. The move aims to protect vendors, musicians, attendees and the Courthouse Lawn.

LK Creations said the Sunset on the Square event was canceled because of tropical weather and the business is selling baked goods for pickup June 18-19 with limited quantities and specials on June 18.

Organizers said tickets are now available for the regional premiere of “Finding Neverland,” running July 31-Aug. 2 at the Heindl Center for the Performing Arts in Senatobia.

Lieutenant Carlos Wilson spoke to boys at the church’s David & Jonathan Camp, the Olive Branch Police Department said, and praised the event’s focus on leadership and character.

The Chamber said it has teamed up with Tropical Getaways to offer a cruise benefiting the Chamber Foundation, and booking is now open to members and nonmembers.
