The City of Olive Branch said the Olive Branch Senior Center will host a spring craft fair Saturday, with Mayor Ken Adams encouraging residents to attend and a food truck from Chef Dee on Wheelz scheduled to serve meals.

The Olive Branch Police Department was awarded a four-year national accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, the city said. Chief Carlos Garcia and Capt. Jason Oliveria attended the CALEA conference in Tucson to accept the recognition.

Organizers said they are teaming with DeSoto Shred to offer a shredding event for residents, surrounding areas and businesses. A 50-pound limit will apply.

Olive Branch Mayor Ken Adams and city public safety departments warned Monday that a Severe Thunderstorm Warning was in effect for DeSoto County until 8:30 p.m., and that the storm could produce a tornado with little or no warning.

The Olive Branch storm shelter is open March 15 and will be staffed by the Olive Branch Police Department beginning at 5:30 p.m., Mayor Ken Adams said. Residents were urged to sign up for mobile alerts.
